PALM
SUNDAY, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER ARE
SPECIAL AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
On Palm Sunday, the congregation gathers outside the church before the
10:50 worship service. At the appointed time, the people enter the
sanctuary waving palm brnches.
This year, the Childrens' choirs will sing the call to worship from the
choir, and the choir will process during the first hymn.
On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, the combined choirs of First United
Methodist Church and St Mark Episcopal Church, under the direction of
Dr. William Denison, choirmaster of St Mark Church will present
a moving rendition of DuBois' "Seven
Words
of Christ" There will be an Orchestra, and the Lyra
Crapps will be at the Organ.
At noon on Monday, Thuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of Holy
Week, there will be a devotional service in the sanctuary and a
fellowship meal.
Thursday evening at 7:00 PM there will be a tenebrae service (Service
of Darkness) by Hal Hopson led by the Chancel Choir. under direction of
Jerry Spann, with Lyra Crapps at the Organ
On Saturday there will be an Easter Egg hunt at the home of
Joan and Bennie Beard , 503 Forset Circle, at 2:00 PM.
Easter Sunday Morning will begin with the 8:30 Contemporary Praise and
Worship service. For the 10:50 service, the choir has prespared
several special unmbers, including a presentation of Hallaluah! from
Handel's Messiah.
