Praise Songs

Great is the Lord

Eli said unto Samuel, … "if He call thee, thou shalt say 'Speak, Lord; for Thy servant heareth.'" And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, "Speak, Lord; for Thy servant heareth!"

(I Samuel 3:9-10)

Thoughts of Inspiration: How marvelous our lives can become when we are in the habit of saying, "Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth." Every time circumstances press in on you, say, "Speak, Lord," and make time to listen. As we listen, our ears become more sensitive, and like Samuel, we will hear God speak to us!

Be Exalted, Oh God!

Jehovah is my strength and song, And he is become my salvation: This is my God, and I will praise him; My father's God, and I will exalt him. (Psalm 18:46)

Thoughts of Inspiration: The goal of my spiritual life is such close identification with Jesus Christ that I will always hear God and know that God always hears me. What hinders me from hearing is my attention to other things. It is so important not to get so busy with life, that I don't hear God when he speaks.

A Shield About Me

But thou, O Jehovah, art a shield about me; My glory and the lifter up of my head. (Psalm 3:3)

Thoughts of Inspiration: Whenever we realize we have not taken advantage of a magnificent opportunity, we are apt to sink into despair. Let the past sleep, but let it sleep in the sweet embrace of Christ, and let us go on into the invincible future with Him. Never let despair or past failures defeat your next step!!

To God Be the Glory

Stand up, bless Jehovah your God from eternity to eternity. And let men bless the name of thy glory, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. (Nehemiah 9:5)

Thoughts of Inspiration: We all have to find our niche in life, and spiritually we find it when we receive our ministry from the Lord. To do this we must have close fellowship with Jesus and must know Him as more than our personal Savior.

Make Me a Servant

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. (Romans 6:22)

Thoughts of Inspiration: Are we willing to give and be poured out in the service of God until we are used up and exhausted? Are we willing to seek the road to minister to others instead of seeking to be ministered to? It is important for us to do menial work, as a servant for God, because we cannot do menial work while maintaining a saintly attitude. Our saintly attitudes keep us from offering our whole selves to God in His service!
